DSA Transparency Notice
Digital Services Act (DSA) Transparency Notice for Guilted
Stand: April 2025
This notice is provided in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 (Digital Services Act – DSA) and covers the required transparency information for users of the Guilted web application.
Guilted is classified as an Online Platform under Article 3(i) DSA but is not a Very Large Online Platform (VLOP) under Article 33 DSA.

2. Description of the Service
Guilted provides users with AI-generated personalized gift recommendations based on form inputs.
The service may contain affiliate links to external online shops.
Affiliated third-party offerings are always clearly marked with outbound links.
3. Content Moderation Policies
Although Guilted does not allow user-generated public content (e.g., posts, comments, profiles), users may submit textual input privately through a form.
We prohibit the submission of:
- illegal content
- harmful or abusive language
- discriminatory expressions
- sensitive personal data about third persons (e.g., health, sexual orientation, religion, political beliefs)
- personal data of individuals without appropriate permission
We may remove or block content or suspend accounts if:
- illegal or harmful input is submitted
- the platform is misused
- automated abuse or scraping is detected
These actions fall under Articles 14, 16, and 23 DSA.
4. Notice and Action Mechanism (Article 16 DSA)
Users or authorities can notify us of illegal or harmful use via:

A valid notice must include:
- Description of the issue
- Exact text or input in question
- Reason why it is believed to be illegal or harmful
- Contact information for feedback
We will:
- acknowledge receipt
- review the notice without undue delay
- take necessary actions
- inform the notifier of the outcome
5. Algorithmic Ranking Transparency (Article 27 DSA)
Gift ideas are generated using AI models based on the following factors:
- information provided by the user (form responses)
- interpretation and reasoning performed by AI models
- optional heuristic scoring (e.g., uniqueness, relevance, feasibility)
- product suggestions from affiliated merchants (marked separately)
There is no personalized ranking based on user profiling or behavioral tracking beyond what is necessary for providing the service.
No recommendations are based on sensitive categories under Article 5 GDPR.
6. Advertising Transparency (Articles 26–27 DSA)
Guilted does not display personalized advertising.
Affiliate links qualify as commercial communications.
They are clearly marked as such, and the operator may earn a commission when purchases are made through them.
We do not sell personal data or share user profiles with advertisers.
7. Internal Complaint-Handling System (Article 20 DSA)
Users may challenge:
- account suspensions
- content removal
- alleged policy violations

8. Out-of-Court Dispute Settlement (Article 21 DSA)
Users may choose an EU-certified out-of-court dispute settlement body.
Details will be provided upon request.
9. Reporting Criminal Activity
We comply with Article 18 DSA and cooperate with law enforcement when legally required.
10. Annual Transparency Report (Article 15 DSA)
As Guilted remains below the DSA thresholds for periodic reporting, no mandatory annual transparency report is required.
We will publish one voluntarily if our scale increases.
